Sandringham Estate

“Dear old Sandringham, the place I love better than anywhere else in the world,”
wrote George V.

Sandringham is the much-loved country retreat of Her Majesty The Queen, and has been the private home of four generations of British monarchs.  The house is perhaps the most famous stately home in Norfolk - and certainly one of the most beautiful.  Set in 60 acres of stunning gardens, with a fascinating museum of Royal vehicles and mementoes, the principal ground floor apartments with their charming collections of porcelain, jade, furniture and family portraits are open to the public from Easter to October.

The Visitor Centre is the first port of call for most visitors to Sandringham, set at the edge of the 600-acre Country Park. The Gift Shop offers all sorts of unique and unusual British-made gifts and quality local foods; next door is the Plant Centre stocked with produce from the Sandringham greenhouses, and the Restaurant, serving delicious lunches, hot drinks and snacks, with special facilities for groups.

Neither a palace nor a castle, Sandringham is a country house with an atmosphere of welcome; whether you have all day to spend here or just a few hours, you are sure to discover a real Norfolk welcome.
